![]() ![]() ![]() If you’re looking for something unusual today, this will certainly check that box. It takes about a half hour to clear, and it’s obviously more of an odd art experiment than a game in the strictest sense. It claims to be a puzzle game about running, with much of the puzzle being in trying to determine how to run? Why to run? I’m not sure. I can’t quite figure out what is going on in this one. It has its share of flaws, such as its generic setting or wild balancing, but there are worse ways to blow a tenner. If you get in a battle, it’s time for the turn-based fun. You’re basically doing some exploration with random events, similar to things like FTL. This is a turn-based tactical roguelite that is obviously taking some cues from XCOM, and you know what? It does a decent job of things. I suppose if you’ve enjoyed the previous games in the Instant Sports line, you’ll want to give this a look. There are lots of items you can unlock to customize your character, and some secrets to find by exploring the oasis. You get fifteen events in all, and up to four players can join in via local multiplayer. It’s more of an assortment of mini-games than anything, some of them very sports-like and others decidedly not. Well, this is a different turn for the Instant Sports series. You can summon four different companions, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and deal with enemies, puzzles, and traps alike as you make your way to the lair of the Cyclops Lord. I suppose it depends on the length of those levels, but it doesn’t give the game a lot of room to build up its mechanics and challenges in a satisfying way. This one looks pretty neat, but I’m a bit concerned about the fact that it only has ten levels. Hey, there’s some of that five-dollar Switch platformer energy. New Releases Ravva and the Cyclops Curse ($4.99) What does the Extra mean here? Improved visuals, some quality of life improvements to make battles less tedious, an enhanced autopilot function for dungeon navigation, a new job category, and more! Demon Gaze Extra will be available on the Switch in North America and Europe on December 9th. While that version was brought to the West by NIS America, this fresh new Extra version will be coming our way via Clouded Leopard Entertainment. One of the better ones on the Sony PlayStation Vita was Experience and Kadokawa’s Demon Gaze. ![]() Nature abhors a vacuum of Etrian Odyssey games on handheld gaming systems, and whenever such a situation occurs many games will try to fill the void. ![]()
